Some add-on information to the news of Max Starks signing with the San Diego Chargers:

According to ProFootballTalk, the contract Starks signed is for one year. This certainly isn't a Jared Gaither-type deal.

It's amazing how Tom Telesco is building a team that could possibly make a run in 2013 while keeping every back-door open to completely blow up the team and start over fresh in 2014 if he needs to.

That's as about official as this news is going to get today. Max Starks is a San Diego Charger and will be competing for the starting Left Tackle job, if it's not just handed to him as soon as he shows up.

Starks also tweeted thank yous to the city of Pittsburgh and Steelers fans.

The guy is fairly young, seems to have a good head on his shoulders and still have lots of potential. Depending on how much he signed for, and it couldn't have been much when you consider the 2013 salary cap situation for the Chargers, this is another low risk-high reward signing by Tom Telesco. It looks like Kid Dynamite is looking to compete this season.

An updated twitter avatar by Max Starks seems to point to him signing with the San Diego Chargers as an unrestricted free agent. Is he the immediate starter at Left Tackle for the Bolts?

See that picture? That's the twitter profile/avatar of Max Starks, the former Pittsburgh Steelers Left Tackle that was being courted by the San Diego Chargers recently.

I highly doubt that Starks would've changed his avatar to a Chargers logo unless he had agreed to join the team, and that would certainly explain why the team released Offensive Tackle Kevin Haslam earlier today.

I'm going to assume Starks is signed. Is he now the starter? Does he take over for King Dunlap immediately, or is it an open competition between the two? Also, how many years and what kind of money did Starks get?

One thing is for sure: Tom Telesco was not comfortable with King Dunlap being the only viable candidate to start at Left Tackle, and he was finally able to get someone to compete with him for the job.
