The craziness is about to begin with the Chargers officially in their 2024 offseason.

Monday, the day after the 2023 NFL regular season ended, brought with it the litany of reports regarding interview requests for those teams who are in the market for new coaches and general managers. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they’re in the market for both!

Over the coming weeks, expect to hear reports on all the big names, including Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh, Bill Belichick, Ben Johnson, and Mike Macdonald, as well as some names not yet heard connected to the Chargers.

Below, we’ll be keeping a tracker of all the rumors and reports coming out about the Chargers and their search for their next head coach!

Monday, January 22nd

  • The Chargers are reportedly set to meet with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh for a second time this week for their head coach vacancy.

Saturday, January 20th

  • The Chargers completed an interview with Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson for their head coach vacancy.
  • The Chargers completed an interview with Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn for their head coach vacancy.
  • The Chargers completed an interview with Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for their head coach vacancy.

Friday, January 19th

  • The Chargers completed an interview with Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for their head coach vacancy.

Thursday, January 18th

  • The Chargers are interviewing former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel for their head coach opening.
  • The Chargers completed an interview with former Stanford head coach David Shaw for their head coach opening. Shaw took over as head coach of the Cardinal after Jim Harbaugh left for the 49ers. He was on Stanford’s staff under Harbaugh and even spent a year with Harbaugh at the University of San Diego.

Monday, January 15th

  • The Chargers completed an interview with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh for their head coach vacancy.

Sunday, January 14th

  • The Chargers completed an interview with former Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Frazier also has head coach experience with the Vikings when he led them from 2010-2013.
  • The Chargers are reportedly the first team that will get the chance to interview Jim Harbaugh for their head coach vacancy. Harbaugh is fresh off winning a national championship at the University of Michigan. Prior to Michigan, Harbaugh was the head coach of the 49ers where he led them to a Super Bowl in the 2012 season.

Saturday, January 13th

  • The Chargers completed an interview with Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald for their head coach vacancy. The Ravens were the best defense in both points per game allowed and total sacks in 2023.

Friday, January 12th

  • The Chargers completed an interview with Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken for their head coach vacancy. Monken helped transform the Ravens offense from a dismal unit in 2022 to a group that’s propelled Lamar Jackson to the forefront for the MVP conversation.

Thursday, January 11th

  • The Chargers have reportedly requested an interview with Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. The Ravens were first in sacks and points per game allowed.

Wednesday, January 10th

  • The Chargers have requested an interview with former Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for their head coach vacancy. Frazier’s last stint as a head coach was with the Vikings from 2011-2013. He called the defense for the Bills from 2017-2022.

Tuesday, January 9th

  • The Chargers have put in a request to interview Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Dallas defense finished fifth in the NFL in total yards allowed, passing yards allowed, and points per game allowed.
  • The Chargers have requested a head coach interview with Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. The Rams were 20th in total defense in 2023, including 12th in run defense.
  • The Chargers completed an interview with interim head coach Giff Smith for their head coach vacancy
  • The Chargers will interview current offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their head-coaching vacancy. Moore has taken head coach interviews in the past and has a shot to stick around in Los Angeles.
  • The Chargers reached out to request an interview with Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan for their head coach vacancy. The Bengals were not a competitive team in 2023 after the loss of quarterback Joe Burrow but he certainly has played a hand in their success from 2021-2022, including a trip to the Super Bowl.

Monday, January 8th

  • The Chargers have requested an interview with 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Wilks coached defensive backs for the Chargers from 2009 to 2011. Safety Eric Weddle has a career-high seven interceptions in 2011 and was a First-Team All-Pro under Wilks.
  • The Chargers have requested interviews for both Lions coordinators, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, for their head coach vacancy. Johnson led the Lions offense to third in total yards per game and fifth in total points. Glenn built the Lions into the league’s second-best rushing defense.
  • The Chargers have requested an interview with Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken for their head coach vacancy. Monken called the offense at the University of Georgia during their back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. This season, he’s helped Lamar Jackson become the front-runner for the NFL’s MVP along with helping guide the Ravens to the best record in the NFL.
  • The Chargers requested an interview with Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for their head coach vacancy. The Raiders had the 15th-ranked defense this year in total yards allowed and ninth in points per game allowed.
