The Chargers and Chiefs will meet in the regular season finale this Sunday. Both teams will be led by a backup quarterback, although the reason that’s happening for the Chiefs is a bit more ideal compared to the Bolts. With the Chiefs having locked up their playoff spot by winning the AFC West for the eighth consecutive season, they’re guaranteed the third or fourth seed in the postseason. That’s why Andy Reid will be sitting guys like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones.
Since the Chargers won’t be playing a full-powered Chiefs squad, the folks at DraftKings Sportsbook have the former as 3.5-point favorites over the latter at home. I don’t necessarily believe that should make them favorites this week, but maybe I’m just biased towards that higher draft slot.
It’s been a long season for the Chargers. This Sunday represents the finish line for those who absolutely cannot wait to see the search for the team’s next head coach and general manager ramp up. But first, they must endure another matchup between a bunch of backups fighting with nothing on the line.
Here we go!
