The Chargers entered Sunday’s game against the Broncos with numerous starters out due to injury. The Broncos were also missing some starters, but not nearly as many as their opponent. As you would have expected, it did not end well for the road team. The Chargers were held without a touchdown as they ultimately fell to the Broncos 16-9 on the road in Mile High.
Quarterback Easton Stick finished with 220 passing yards on 24-of-38 passing. Running back Austin Ekeler rushed for 46 yards on 13 carries and had just one catch for four yards. Wideout Alex Erickson caught a team-high seven receptions for 98 yards on eight targets.
Linebacker Eric Kendricks led the defense with 14 total tackles and a pass breakup. Safety Derwin James had 12 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups. Edge rusher Khalil Mack recorded his 16th sack of the season, notching his 16th of the season (new single-season record) which also pushed him over 100 sacks for his career.
The Chargers will be back home next Sunday to face the Chiefs in the season finale.
