Chargers open as 5-point underdogs to Broncos

The Bolts are seen as outsiders to flip the result of their Week 14 loss to Sean Payton’s Broncos

As the 2023 season comes into its penultimate week of the regular season the Chargers are playing for nothing but pride as they enter the week 5-10. They do enter this Week 17 matchup against their AFC West divisional rival Denver Broncos with their heads held slightly higher after going toe-to-toe with one of the hottest teams in the national football league, the Buffalo Bills. They ended up losing that Week 16 game 24-22 however, everyone who watched Giff Smith’s team make Josh Allen and Sean McDermott sweat it down to the last 30 seconds, will agree that this showed there is hope buried in this roster somewhere.

When the Broncos beat the Bolts in Week 14 they improved to 7-6 and were looking like genuine candidates to seal a wildcard playoff spot but the story since then has been miserable. They got absolutely blown off the field by the Detroit Lions before somehow losing to the lowly New England Patriots on Christmas Eve. They conceded 26 points to the same Bailey Zappe led offense that the Chargers shut out in Week 13.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook the Chargers are 5-point outsiders to flip the result of their Week 14 home loss to Sean Payton’s Broncos when traveling to Mile High Stadium as they look to close out the season under the interim head coach, Giff Smith.

Can the Bolts end the season on a high or will they increase their odds of a higher draft pick come April? We shall see when this game takes place on New Year’s Eve.
