Hello Bolts From the Blue,
Tonight we have two Monday Night Football games for the price of one for the third and final time this season. These games will be happening simultaneously as the league looks to give a Sunday feeling to Monday in an attempt to make their end of week product more attractive to prospective buyers.
The first game to look at is the Miami Dolphins hosting the Tennessee Titans at Hardrock Stadium in what is looking like a lopsided matchup between two teams at either end of the AFC standings. Mike McDaniels’ team are in the hunt for the number one seed in the AFC playoff race sitting in a comfortable lead by two full wins at the top of the AFC East. Tua Tagovailoa is executing their exciting brand of explosive offense to a high degree. The offense may have propelled them into Super Bowl conversations early on in the season but it has been the improvement in their defense under Vic Fangio that has really pushed them into real contention.
The Titans on the other hand are at the bottom of the AFC South at 4-8 and so their eye is very much on the future. Will Levis has taken over starting duties and whilst he got off to an explosive start with four touchdowns in a win against the Atlanta Falcons, he has only managed to throw for three scores in the five games since. This team is in transition with not much to play for and it would be a surprise if Mike Vrabel’s men took the huge step up required to even get near their opponents away from home. Therefore I am taking the Dolphins to win bigger than the 14-point spread on offer with DraftKings Sportsbook at -112.
Next up we have a more interesting game where Jordan Love leads the Green Bay Packers to Metlife stadium to take on the New York Giants. Both teams have found recent form after shaky starts to the season, the Packers have won three straight including some statement wins over the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions. The Giants and Tommy Devito have found ways to win scrappy games against the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots, Devito has seen improvements to his game similarly to Jordan Love however these are two different levels of talents who have two different levels of wins over the last few weeks. Matt Lefluer’s team have the leaders of the NFC playoff hunt sweating, no one wants to meet an improving team with a proven coach. Brian Daboll in the meantime, is under pressure to improve without their starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, and it has been intriguing to see an uptick in output without him at the helm.
DraftKings Sportsbook have this matchup as a closer six point handicap in favor of the Packers and I will be taking this in a hurry at -110 as I think this is a result of some lucky Giants’ wins against lackluster teams whereas the Packers have dismantled some of the league’s best with Love playing with poise and balance. For a bonus prop bet I’d be keen on taking Saquon Barkley to get over the 70.5 rushing yards on offer at -115 as the Packers’ have struggled against the run but have smothered the pass and the Giants may need to take what’s on offer to keep up with a superior offense.
