Any hopes for the Chargers to sneak into the playoffs were extinguished today.
In what many hoped would be a high-flying emotional game for the Bolts as the team honored Antonio Gates by inducting him into the Hall of Fame at halftime, the offense once again was stale an stagnant to start the game. Michael Davis came up with a surprise turnover early, giving the Bolts excellent field position, but the Chargers wasted it away once again by turning the ball over on downs.
The worst-case scenario for Chargers fans unfolded as Justin Herbert was also injured in the game on a fourth down attempt. Although there is no official word on the seriousness of the injury, it’s believed to be an injury to his throwing hand’s index finger, arguably the most important finger for a quarterback.
This may be the end of the Brandon Staley tenure. Be sure to check out the postgame conference at Chargers.com to see what Staley has to say on the loss.
