The Bolts mixed youth and veterans well in this group.

The Chargers dropped some exciting news out of nowhere on Thursday night when they unveiled their captains for the 2021 season.

In recent years, the Bolts have normally stuck with five captains: two offensive players, two defensive players, and one from special teams. This season, they’re trotting out eight.

For the 2021 NFL season, your Chargers captains are wide receiver Keenan Allen, edge rusher Joey Bosa, running back Austin Ekeler, quarterback Justin Herbert, safety Derwin James, defensive tackle Linval Joseph, center Corey Linsley, and punter Ty Long.

I’m a massive fan of this group as it’s comprised of a very diverse group of youth, talent, and experience. Players like Herbert, Bosa, and Ekeler are making their first ever captain debuts while players like Linsley and Joseph — who have been captains with their previous teams — will now be at the head of their current squad.

This is a truly exciting group of players to see walk out to midfield at the start of every game and I’d argue the coaching staff couldn’t have selected a better group of players to lead this team into the coming season.
