Ya’ll ready for Sunday afternoon? Matthew, Garrett, and I sure are.

We’re cautiously optimistic for this matchup with the Cowboys. They’re missing some key players on both sides of the ball and the Chargers are too, just to a lesser degree.

With plenty of points expected, all three of us believe the Bolts will sneak out another close one against a NFC East squad.

Go ahead and check out our predictions below and tell us in the comments whether or not you agree/disagree!

Michael Peterson: While most of the injury headlines that surround this game involve some of the Cowboys’ best players, the Chargers will also head into Sunday’s game without some of their keys guys, as well.

Both teams will be without their starting right tackles. Dallas’ La’el Collins is out five games for breaking the league’s substance abuse policy while Bulaga was placed on injured reserve with a back injury he sustained against Washington. Secondly, the Cowboys are without star pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence for six to eight weeks after he had surgery just a few days ago. And then lastly, the Bolts will be without Chris Harris which is a notable blow to a secondary who has the task of defending the dynamic receiver duo of Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb.

I think this game will be filled with fireworks from start to finish. While both offensive lines are missing a key member, the Chargers will still have their star pass rusher to take advantage of the mismatch. Joey Bosa’s opportunity to line up against second-year UDFA Terrence Steele will be the deciding factor for me in this one.

After the Brandon Staley showed he could coach this team to a fourth-quarter victory while ending it in possession of the football, there’s no way I can doubt him this week. Chargers win another close one 27-24.

Matthew Stanley: This will be a fun game to watch. Even with how many starters are out for the Cowboys and Bryan Bulaga (Iowa) and Chris Harris Jr out for the Chargers, it’s still going to be fantastic.I think the Chargers win this shootout in their home opener in front of fans for the first time in LA. The offense showed me a lot last week and I think they keep rolling in the pass game against this banged up Dallas D, including getting Austin Ekeler rolling as a receiver. On Defense I think we’re going to see Derwin James’s coverage skills on display as Brandon Staley relies on James to help in the slot with Harris Jr out. Ultimately I think the Chargers win a high scorer 34-24.

Garrett Sisti: I think the big focus going into this game is the Cowboys WR duo of CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper vs the Chargers secondary sans Chris Harris Jr. While that may be the marquee matchup I think the Dallas receivers will see a heavy dose of Michael Davis, Asante Samuel Jr. and more importantly Derwin James. I think Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard will pose one of the biggest threats to the Chargers D because their interior defense is worrisome with or without Justin Jones. With the firepower from both offenses it’s going to come down to which defense can stop the other offense and that swings in the Chargers favor, add in the slew of injuries to the Cowboys and I think the Chargers win 31-24
