After last week’s massive ratings reveal for the latest edition of Madden, this week’s reveals are centered around the game’s best players and their accompanying “X-Factors” which are abilities within the game that only the best of the best get to use.
Thus far, Keenan Allen is the only Chargers player to have a X-Factor but he’s certainly not going to be the only one when things are all said and done.
Allen is one of three receivers to have the “Max Security” X-Factor which essentially gives them an increased success rate on possession catches, making them a quarterback’s best friend. The other two receivers to own the X-Factor are the Cowboys’ Amari Cooper and the Saints’ Michael Thomas.
“Keenan Allen’s incredible route-running ability can flat out embarrass defenders,” says the game developers on Madden’s official site. “The foundation of the Los Angeles Chargers’ aerial attack, Allen is an elite receiver.”

In last year’s Madden, Allen was joined by Joey Bosa and Derwin James as the other Chargers players to hold an x-factor. This year, that’s likely to be the case again.
Bosa held the “Unstoppable Force” x-factor that increased his success rate when rushing from the edge. Sounds like reality, right? James was buffed by the “Reinforcement” x-factor that increased his rate of bringing the wood when tackling ball-carriers. I’m not sure if these abilities will change from last year but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. I think they suit the players perfectly.
