Chargers cutting 11 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline

The first domino has fallen.

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Seattle Seahawks Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

It’s look like Chargers aren’t waiting until the day of to make all of their cuts ahead of Tuesday’s 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.

According to the team, they are releasing a total of nine players and waived/injured two others.

The players waived are outside linebacker Davin Bellamy, linebacker Nate Evans, wide receiver John Hurst, offensive tackle Darius Harper, tight end Matt Sokol, defensive lineman Willie Yarbary, outside linebacker Jessie Lemonier, and cornerbacks Donte Vaughn and KJ Sails.

The two players being waived/injured are long snapper Cole Mazza and offensive guard Tyree St. Louis.

Aside from Jessie Lemonier, I’m not surprised as any of the decisions made thus far. Lemonier has legitimate game experience and I believe that would give him an edge over Emeke Egbule but the coaching staff must feel different. I thought Yarbary also had an outside shot of making the team but the hill was just too steep for him to climb this year.
