Sunday’s exhibition with the 49ers may have ended in a loss but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a more than a few notable performances.
For today’s discussion, I want to hear about who you felt performed admirably against the Niners despite “playing up.” By that, I simply mean that most of the Bolts who played were backups going up against a number of the 49ers’ actual starters.
Besides from the obvious standout performance of Easton Stick, I really liked what I saw from linebacker Nick Niemann.
Yeah, yeah, he struggled on two separate plays where he allowed a big gain and and the NIners’ first touchdown, but he led the team once again with eight tackles and was constantly around the ball. He’s as athletic as advertised and you can see the obvious potential. I expect him to be a menace on special teams while working his way into the rotation at linebacker behind the team’s top three.
I also want to give a nod to both Willie Yarbary and Forrest Merrill. The two young defensive linemen each popped for a play or two Sunday night and I think they earned themselves one more week of life with the Chargers.
Now I want to hear from you. Who stood out in your eyes and why?
Now for today’s links.
