Following an injury to stater Cole Mazza in Saturday’s preseason game, the Chargers announced the signing of veteran long snapper Matt Overton on Monday afternoon.
Overton, who actually had a small stint with the Chargers during the 2019 season, has played in 109 total games in his career split between the Colts, Jaguars, and Tennessee. He most recently spent with the Titans in 2020 where he appeared in nine games.
The veteran was named to the 2013 Pro Bowl while he was a member of the Colts.
Overton played his collegiate ball at Western Washington University.

With Mazza on the mend, 2021 undrafted free agent Ryan Langan will have an opportunity to impress the coaching staff this week or for however long Mazza remains sidelined. After all, the incumbent is in a contract year so I wouldn’t be surprised to see that position get shaken up a bit this preseason.
