No Chargers land among Madden 22’s top-10 safeties, cornerbacks

Quite the turnaround from this time last season.

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers Minicamp Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

This morning, the people behind the latest edition of Madden 22 dropped the overall ratings for the top-10 safeties and cornerbacks in a continuation of their massive week of reveals for the upcoming edition of the franchise.

Oh how much difference a year can make.

A year ago, the Bolts had three cornerbacks among the top-10 in Casey Hayward, Chris Harris Jr., and Desmond King. This year, there are zero Chargers among either position. In fact, two of those three players are no longer with the team and the oldest of the three is the only one to remain in Los Angeles.

For your viewing pleasure, the top-10 at each position are in the tweet below.

After taking a look at the 20 players pictured above, which players are included that you don’t think deserve a spot over Derwin James? I personally don’t think Chris Harris Jr. (injuries in 2020) or Michael Davis (Still a bit unproven) deserve a top-10 nod as of this moment, but I think a case could still be made for James at his position, regardless of his injuries.

Either way, a big year from James in 2021 will fix that fairly quickly. I also believe Davis has what it takes to make some noise this year in Brandon Staley’s defense, but only time will tell on that one.

What are all of your thoughts on the ratings for the defensive back? Anyone have any strong opinions about the group, despite there not being any Bolts included? Let me know in the comments below.
