Good morning, Chargers fans.
One of the discussions I keep seeing come across my Twitter feed is this idea of potentially trading for disgruntled Ravens tackle Orlando Brown Jr. For those of you who don’t know, Brown has made it clear he wants to play left tackle in the NFL and he’s made it known he doesn’t care about the money nor the team. He simply wants to play the same position that his father did when he was in the NFL.
With the Ravens, Brown is stuck at right tackle as Ronnie Stanley is currently cemented as the blindside protector for Lamar Jackson after signing a long-term contract this past offseason.
The Chargers are certainly in need of an upgrade at left tackle, but they own the 13th-overall pick which should put them in a good place to draft that type of player in April. However, Chargers fans have been tossing around the idea of trading the 13th pick, along with wide receiver Mike Williams, in exchange for Brown and possibly another mid to late-round pick.
Personally, I would not do this. I like the idea of getting a good rookie in the first and, if the team really isn’t going to keep Williams, I’d rather they trade him for additional picks or another player at a position of need. I think the team can come out better than trading a first-round pick and a former first-round pick for a tackle that may not fit well in the Chargers’ new offense. But that’s a whole other topic to discuss.
For this post, please feel free to discuss the trade below and share your thoughts on the topic. Do you want to see the team make a trade for Brown? If so, what would you be willing to give up for him?
Now for today’s links.
