Heading into the bye week, Tristan Vizcaino was tops in the NFL with five missed extra points on the season. Since 2015, the record for the most missed PATs in a season is seven, and with 11 games left on the schedule, there’s a good chance Vizcaino surpasses that mark if he’s given the freedom to finish the season for the Chargers.
Knowing his job is obviously on the line should these misses continue, Vizcaino reached out to a former Chargers kicker in hopes of getting the kinks ironed out ahead of the season’s final stretch.
Nick Novak, who kicked for the Chargers from 2011-2014 with another stint in 2017, posted a video of Vizcaino working out on his Instagram. In the video’s caption, Novak wrote, “We had a great day working the craft. Tristan is one of the best I’ve ever been around!” Now, that could easily be Novak attempting to hype up one of his guys, but if not, then maybe there is some hope to be had for the struggling 25-year old.
