We already knew the Chargers have been planning to interview Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett for their head coaching vacancy but now we know when that meeting will take place. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bolts will be interviewing Garrett on Friday, making this the second interview of the team in which the “when” question has been answered.
Prior this coaching search, the Chargers used to tweet out when they had completed an interview with a potential candidate. This time around, as we have yet to see any notice from the social media team about Eric Bieniemy’s interview on Tuesday, it doesn’t look like they’ll be as transparent with the fan base as last time.
Garrett has only been the offensive coordinator for Giants for 2020 after almost 10 years at the helm of the Cowboys (he spent half of 2010 as the interim). In that span, he only had one losing season. However, that could be attributed to the lack of ability throughout the NFC East in recent years.
The #Chargers are going to interview #Giants OC Jason Garrett tomorrow, source said. GM Dave Gettleman said yesterday, "The possibility of Jason leaving, of course it makes you a little antsy.” They’d like to keep Garrett at NYG.
