On Sunday afternoon, Justin Herbert broke numerous records against Kansas City, including setting the NFL record for total touchdowns by a rookie quarterback with 36, en route to beating the Patrick Mahomes-less Chiefs 38-21 at Arrowhead Stadium.
The victory was the Bolts’ fourth-straight win and completes their 2020 regular season record at 7-9, a two-win improvement from a year ago.
Herbert finished with 302 yards on 20-for-29 passing and four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) with zero interceptions.
Unfortunately, he fell just 39 yards shy of breaking Andrew Luck’s mark of 4,374 set in 2011. Justin Jackson led the Chargers in rushing with 72 while Mike Williams hauled in a team-high six receptions for 108 yards and a score. Austin Ekeler also had six receptions and a score with 33 receiving yards.
Defensively, Isaac Rochell had the team’s only sack on the night which led to a safety just before the end of the first half.
