Whether he meant to or not, new defensive coordinator Renaldo Hill named a handful of coaches who will supposedly be a part of the defensive staff during his introductory press conference on Wednesday morning.
I’ll touch on those other coaches later today, but the one I wanted to highlight in this post is defensive line coach Giff Smith. After reports came out on January 22 that Smith was joining the staff in Detroit, a new report came out 24 hours later that he was no longer headed east. Instead, it looks like Joey Bosa and the defensive line will have some welcomed continuity as they transition into the Brandon Staley era.
Smith has been with the Chargers since the 2016 season.
#Chargers DL coach Giff Smith will be staying on staff according to new DC Renaldo Hill.
