Chargers fans got some surprise news from rookie linebacker Kenneth Murray on Tuesday afternoon when he posted a photo to his instagram account depicting the 2020 first-round pick reclined in a hospital bed with bandages covering his entire right shoulder.

The picture was captioned, “Surgery was a (success)! Thank you Dr. Elattrache!!! Thank you for the prayers!”

The news was obviously surprising as there had been zero reports up to this point in the offseason that Murray would need to undergo any form of surgery due to injuries stemming from this past season. Besides the normal bumps and bruises, Murray was one of the healthiest players on the team as he started all 16 games and finished with 107 total tackles which set the Chargers rookie record set by Derwin James (105) back in 2018.

As of now, we’re still waiting on any follow-up information, but it’s probably safe to assume that Murray will be healthy with plenty of time to spare prior to the team’s report dates later this year. The rookie also posted a statement to his instagram saying that a YouTube video will be posted later on the channel run by him and his girlfriend that should help shed some light on the circumstances surrounding the surgery.
