After being fired from the Chargers on Black Monday of this NFL season, former head coach Anthony Lynn didn’t have to wait long for another coaching opportunity, and he may have landed in the perfect spot.
Per Dan Graziano of ESPN, Lynn is being hired by the Lions to be their newest offensive coordinator under new head coach Dan Campbell. Campbell is a former tight ends coach for the Saints and wasted no time in his introductory press conference where he painted a vivid picture of being a tough, hard-nosed football team that plans to beat up their incoming opponents each week.
With that blue-collar mindset being laid out on the table for everyone to see, it’s no surprise that Campbell is looking to Lynn to lead the offense. Lynn was infamous for trying to establish the run early and often every game, sometimes even to a fault.
If Campbell truly wants their football team to be a realistic representation of the city of Detroit, I truly think he picked the right people for it. Will that style of play be able to find success in a pass-happy league? For Lions fans, I certainly hope so.
Per sources, the Detroit Lions will be hiring former Chargers coach Anthony Lynn as their offensive coordinator.
