Got another point of discussion for you all this morning.
For the new coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, would you prefer to see the team hited a grizzled veteran of the coaching ranks, or a younger candidate that possibly has a bit more potential in the long run?
Of the eight head coaches interviewed by the Bolts so far, Joe Brady is by far the youngest at 31 years old. Arthur Smith and Brandon Staley are the next youngest at 38. On the other end of the spectrum, Jason Garrett is the oldest at 54, followed by Eric Bieniemy at 51.
So for today, let’s discuss the direction we would each like to see the Chargers move in.
I’ll get this thing started.
I personally want a healthy middle of the two. I like that Smith and Staley are just under 40, which tells me they were brought up by the old guard but are still young enough to not be so set in their ways of how they were taught and developed. Brian Daboll at 45 years old still likely fits this mold, especially when you consider how he was able to adapt to Josh Allen’s skillset and didn’t pigeonhole him into a traditional system that may not have been the best fit. Robert Saleh is also just 41, so of course he fits in there, as well.
There’s also a level of energy and enthusiasm I would like to see from the new head coach. Obviously those that are already up there in age aren’t as “rah-rah” as the younger coaches and I personally enjoyed coaches who could will their way to being even more pumped up than the team on game days. The players will always feed on that and coaches must be aware of how they may be coming off to their team in certain moments.
Let me know in the comments what you guys think and be sure to share your thoughts, as well.
