Trent Scott, who started nine games at left tackle for the LA Chargers in 2019 and was waived at final cuts on Saturday, has been claimed on waivers from the Carolina Panthers. He will be reunited with Russell Okung, who he replaced in the starting lineup in 2019, which in a way is the event that got them both from LA to Carolina this year, as well as offensive line coach Pat Meyer.
Clearly Meyer had enough good things to say about Scott to bring him to the Panthers, where he’ll be backing up Okung again.

Scott will also be competing against Michael Schofield, an offensive lineman for the Chargers since 2017 before joining Meyer in Carolina this year. The Panthers also have tackle Greg Little, an early second round pick in 2019 who had a disastrously bad rookie season and remains a reserve lineman.
The Chargers are all set to move on at tackle this year with free agent signing Bryan Bulaga, Sam Tevi, Trey Pipkins, and Tyree St. Louis, under the guidance of new offensive line coach James Campen.
