The Chargers have officially released 26 players, including placing Derwin James on season-ending IR, to trim their final roster down to 53 players.
Most of the players cut were undrafted free agents, understandably, and it’s a safe bet a number of them are going to get a second chance now that the practice squad limitations have increased to 16 players.
As of now, guys like Asmar Bilal, Nate Gilliam, Darius Bradwell, Breiden Fehoko, and Gabe Nabers are the names I’ve heard or have been reported to be headed to the PS.
One of the more notable surprise cuts off the initial list below has got to be linebacker Malik Jefferson. He was a Chargers favorite coming out of the draft several years ago and I thought he added extra versatility and athleticism at multiple positions on the second level of the defense.
Check out all 26 cuts below and stay tuned for the official 53-man roster announcement.
