The Chargers have been devastated by injuries since training camp and things only got worse with the loss of Chris Harris Jr. prior to one of the toughest matchups on their schedule.
This week, the Chargers make the cross-country trip to Tampa Bay to take on Tom Brady and the Bucs in an early kickoff slot, which will be their first of the season. Due to this, CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco doesn’t think the Chargers will be all that lively come game day. In fact, he thinks they’ll be over 7.0-point underdogs in Sunday’s matchup.
“This is a long trip for the Chargers, and the question is who will be playing quarterback. It won’t matter. Tampa Bay is playing well on defense and they will shut down the Chargers offense. Tom Brady will play well enough against a good Chargers defense”
The Bucs will be without one of their best receivers in Chris Godwin, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, but they still have a plethora of firepower to use either through the air or on the ground. When you add in their defense, it’s probably going to be Justin Herbert’s toughest test yet.
