No team wants to play the reigning Super Bowl Champions during the regular season. But when you happen to be in the same division as them, you don’t get much of a choice.
The Bolts get the unfortunate task of facing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in just the second week of the season which also happens to be their home-opener at SoFi Stadium. Both are coming off victories in week one, but Kansas City has had a bit more time to prep and recover due to them playing on opening night.
This key matchup is going to be each team’s best-on-best: the Chiefs offense against the Bolts’ defense.
Which side gives first will go a long way in deciding what has been a fairly close contest over the last two years. Yes, the Chiefs are 3-1 in that span, but the Chargers have done the best job of limiting Mahomes through the air than any team in the NFL since he took over as the starter.
I really can’t wait.
