A week ago, that new and improved offensive line was ready to go for this Sunday’s matchup with the Bengals. But now, just two days ahead of their week one contest, the Chargers are reportedly going to be without center Mike Pouncey to begin the season.
Chargers C Mike Pouncey, who missed practice this week with a hip injury, is not expected to play in Sunday's opener against the Bengals, per sources. A Chargers team that already lost its defensive leader in Derwin James now also will be without an offensive leader Sunday.

Pouncey, who was recently named one of the team’s five permanent team captains, is dealing with an apparent hip injury. The silver lining in this situation is that it has nothing to do with his season-ending injury from a year ago. However, hip ailments were a common thing for Pouncey when he was with the Dolphins,
In his place, expect Dan Feeney to slide inside to center and for Forrest Lamp to start at left guard. Fortunately, Feeney has had all week to get acclimated at that position and had a few starts there last season. We’ll update this post when we learn more from today’s post-practice Zoom call.
