To end last week, the Electronic Arts and the people behind the Madden video game franchise finally unveiled every player rating for this year’s installment of the franchise, Madden 21.

It’s one of my favorite days of the year as someone who always buys each new edition of the series and takes a lot of pride in being competitive at the game. But also as a Chargers fan, it’s a blast to see how the ratings adjustors view the Chargers going into the new NFL season.

This year, things are just more of the same with the Bolts. In recent years, the Chargers haven’t been rated as one of the most-elite teams in the game, but they’ve always been packed with a plethora of above-average talent that really helps solidify themselves as a solid-but-not-great team. While that may not be what we as fans want, it’s better than being the Miami Dolphins or Cincinnati Bengals where it’s almost impossible to win a game with their level of talent.

The Chargers are usually one of the team’s with the most players above an 80-overall rating, but they usually lack the top-end talent with players above 90. This year, the Bolts boast just two players in the 90s, but the rest of their top ten fits between 85 and 89, which is no laughing matter.
