While there hasn’t been an ounce of on-field team workouts for fans to see since this offseason began, the players themselves have taken to their social media platforms to show what they’ve been doing to stay on top of their game while remaining in elite performing shape.
In the latest Instagram post by defensive tackle Justin Jones, you can see the third-year defender working out on a beach with a number of his Chargers teammates as well as the Raiders’ Maliek Collins and the Packers’ Kenny Clark.
The Chargers that can be seen in the video with Jones are defensive tackle Jerry Tillery and outside linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Emeke Egbule. For the most part, it looks like they’re all working on their pass-rush moves, which is a welcomed sight after the lack of productivity in that area this past season.
Of those in the video, only Nwosu and Tillery recorded a sack for the Chargers in 2019, with both recording just two a piece. Nwosu was tied for third on the team with five tackles-for-loss while Tillery recorded three and Jones had two.
Clark is one of the best young defensive tackles in the NFL so it’s good to see the these guys putting in the work with those whose play they should try and mimic. The fifth-year pro has registered six sacks in each of the last two seasons and 16.5 over the last three seasons for Green Bay.
If the Chargers’ defensive tackles can find any semblance of Clark’s production during the 2020 season, than this defense will certainly be improved.
Keep up the good work, fellas.
