The Chargers officially announced their 2020 preseason schedule Wednesday morning with the team hosting the Dallas Cowboys in the first ever exhibition game at SoFi Stadium on August 16th. The team will likely appreciate the lack of travel prior to the regular season since each contest will be played on the west coast. The Seahawks and 49ers have been recent staples in the Chargers’ preseason slates and that won’t change in 2020.

Each of the team’s preseason games are against teams that finished .500 or better from a season ago. Seattle and San Francisco were two of the best teams in the NFL last year and each game should serve as valuable experience for the young players on the Bolts. Unlike in past years with Philip Rivers at the helm, we will likely see a ton of both Tyrod Taylor and Justin Hebert during the month of August, with of course, some Easton Stick thrown in there, too.
Charger fans were understandably excited to watch Taylor play last year in the preseason and they’ll likely be even more pumped up for this one.
Of course, there is always the possibility of the exhibition schedule being canceled due to a lack of progression in the current pandemic, but with states like Texas and California announcing that professional sports could return without fans as early as next month, the chances of these games being played is becoming all the more likely.
