At least the media sees improvement on the horizon.

Yesterday, I posted about the folks over at Bleacher Report predicting that the the Chargers will go 8-8 during the 2020 regular season. Today, I’m here to tell you that the people of Pro Football Focus are right there with B/R in that they have set the Chargers’ over/under on wins at 7.5

For what it’s worth, at least both publications predict the Chargers to improve on their 5-11 record from this past season.

“OVER is likely the only play here,” says analyst and author of the article Eric Eager. “But it is the Chargers, and there is a substantial chance they play the underwhelming Justin Herbert early and often. Pass.”

Right away they’ll remind the fan base that they were very much “not high” on Herbert coming out of this year’s draft. His selection at #6 was a big reason why they gave the Chargers’ overall draft haul a “C-”, which is the lowest grade that i’ve been able to find, by far.

Whether it’s Herbert or Tyrod Taylor starting the majority of the games this season, I think somewhere between eight and nine wins should be the where the bar is set. Worse teams have found their way to .500 or better in recent years and I think this team is built to follow in the footsteps of the 2017 Jaguars, 2018, Bears, and the 2019 Bills.
