For the first time in HBO Hard Knocks history, the show is looking to cover two teams during this year’s training camp, barring that there is one to even cover in the first place.
Adam Schefter reported this morning that the hit-TV show is hoping to expand their coverage by covering both the Chargers and the Rams prior to their first year playing inside SoFi Stadium.

Schefter also reported that the announcement had been scheduled to be made at last week’s NFL annual meeting, but the meeting was unsurprisingly canceled due to the current health crisis.
This would be the Chargers first time appearing on the show, which is produced by NFL Films in collaboration with HBO. The Rams could make it their second time in the last five years as they were most-recently the focus of the series back in 2016.
Some fans may have mixed opinions on whether or not they want to see the Chargers on the show based on the team success of past volunteers. Prior to the 2019 season, only six of the 13 teams to be documented improved on their record from the previous season. Five of them saw worse records while two finished with the exact same record as the year before. Five of the 13 teams even made the playoffs, but four of those five already had a winning record prior to being on the show.
Based on those above numbers, the Chargers appearing on the show could spell good or bad things on the horizon with equal chance. In my honest opinion, I don’t think the Chargers will volunteer to be on the show simply because that doesn’t seem like a thing Anthony Lynn would want hanging over his team going into a pivotal season for him and his future in Los Angeles.
But what do you all think? Would you want to see the Chargers join the Rams on Hard Knocks? Why or why not?
