New Charger Darius Jennings is ‘so excited’ to join the Los Angeles squad

Jennings expressed his excitement during an interview with Streaking The Lawn

The NFL Free Agency period has largely died down in terms of big-name signings, rumors, trades and the like. Though all eyes are squarely on the draft, new players are eagerly awaiting the time until they can meet up with their new teams in person. For some, the excitement boils over.

Darius Jennings is one of those players after he signed a one-year, $935,000 contract with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency.

Moving to LA will definitely be an adjustment, but honestly I’m so excited. I’ve been an East Coast kid all of my life. I grew up in Baltimore and went to college at UVA, and even during my playing career, I haven’t been anywhere over a 12 hour drive (Chicago and Nashville...I know this because I have made those trips numerous times). You can’t beat beaches and sunshine all year round.

Super hype to be playing for the Chargers as well. They have always been a first class organization. I have played against them the past two years and they just come to compete. The country and the world’s safety are a priority right now, so it might be awhile before I can meet my new teammates and coaches. I am praying that everyone reading this is being smart and safe during these times, but I am excited to head out there and get the ball rolling.

Jennings sat down and discussed all things Chargers, his alma mater Virginia and more with SB Nation’s own Caroline Darney.

Jennings has hauled in 27 career passes for 235 yards and no touchdowns but has made more than an impact in the kick-return game in his three seasons in the NFL. He has totaled 1,112 yards on 42 kick returns with a 94-yard touchdown scored while with the Tennessee Titans in 2018. Jennings spent his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns after going undrafted in the 2015 draft and played only preseason football during 2016-17 before landing with the Titans regular-season squad in 2018.

His impact with the ball in his hands is something else, and one thing is for sure: he’s electric with it.

I join you, Darius, and I too am excited to see you in a Chargers uniform soon. Real soon.
