Prior to being the head coach and general manager of the D.C. Defenders, Hamilton spent the 2017 and ‘18 seasons as the assistant head coach and passing game coordinator for the University of Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. In 2016, Hamilton was the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach for the Cleveland Browns after spending the previous three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts under Chuck Pagano.

Hamilton played his college football at Howard University where he played quarterback from 1993-96. After a wealth of experience at the college and professional level, the Chargers hope Hamilton can use that knowledge to kickstart the young career of their talented new signal-caller, Justin Herbert.
