Chris Trapasso released a new two-round mock draft on Thursday and he gave the Chargers a very familiar face at #6 while throwing in a new name for the Bolts at #37.

Like a million mock drafts before him, Trapasso tabbed Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert for the Chargers, saying “There very well could be a mystery team that makes a play for Herbert here. A little more than a week out, I go with “chalk” here for a club that needs a long-term answer at quarterback.”

We are all aware of what Herbert is, and what he did in college so there’s no need to re-hash all of it. He’s huge, mobile, and incredibly smart. We just don’t know if he can escape some of his decision-making and lack of elite natural throwing talent.

It’s at pick 37 that Trapasso got the gears turning a bit. He has Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray falling out of the first round and into the Chargers’ lap at the top of the second round. Murray is consistently mocked on day one so this does seem a bit unlikely. One of Murray’s biggest knocks is his lack of coverage ability and his wild child-style of play. Both could be seen as detriments to his potential success and so it’s not that crazy to believe he will fall from where he’s currently being mocked.

Murray was a Freshman All-American and Co-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2017 as a 14-game starter. As a sophomore, Murray was third in the country with 155 total tackles while collecting 12.5 tackles-for-loss, and four sacks. Even though his tackles took a step back this past season (102), Murray was even more disruptive with 17.5 tackles-for-loss and another four sacks with four pass breakups en route to being named a Third-Team AP All-American.
