2020 NFL Draft Fan Vote: Pick 167

NCAA Football: Appalachian State at North Carolina James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

Alright Chargers fans, we’re back to bring home this fan vote mock as we finish through the final two rounds of the draft.

The sixth round has been as much of a crap-shoot for Tom Telesco as it is for the rest of the league. At this point, you’re basically looking for the last few guys left who are worthy of being drafted. Some notable players do fall this far for one reason or another so it’s not like there’s ever no talent in the sixth, it’s just hard to find or you better have an early pick to scoop up that straggler.

Last year, the Chargers selected versatile linebacker Emeke Egbule out of Houston. His stats show a guy who flies around the field and has a knack for being around the football. Both great traits to have. He went on to play mainly on special teams, with only 21 actual snaps on defense for the Bolts. His best spot is likely a depth piece at strongside linebacker or the “OTTO” position in their base defense.

In 2018, the Chargers drafted uber-athlete Dylan Cantrell, a 6’4 225-pound wide receiver from Texas Tech. This pick was super exciting as many thought the Chargers offense in ‘18 was going to look like a basketball team on turf with three wideouts over 6’4 and one at 6’2. Cantrell unfortunately didn’t make it out of training camp and was shut down way before the preseason. He was hurt once again to start 2019 and has yet to play in a preseason game for the Chargers.

But from 2015-2017, the Chargers hit on their sixth-round picks when they selected defensive tackle Darius Philon, fullback Derek Watt, and offensive tackle Sam Tevi, respectively. Now the term “hit” might be a little loose with these guys, but each played or is still playing meaningful snaps with the team and that’s about all you can really ask for from a sixth-rounder.

At this point in the fan vote, the Chargers have now selected quarterback Justin Herbert, offensive tackle Austin Jackson, wide receiver Denzel Mims, defensive tackle Leki Fotu, and most recently wide receiver Devin Duvernay with their fifth-round pick.

With the 167th pick in this year’s sixth round, who are you selecting for the Chargers?
