Thomas Davis was signed during last year’s free agency period. He is the last remaining defensive player from the 2005 NFL Draft in the NFL and he’s coming off a season where he led the Chargers in tackles with 112.
Mebane signed with the team back in 2016 from the Seattle Seahawks. The 35-year old finished 2019 with 27 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a single sack.
Both moves give the Chargers some more breathing room prior to the start of the new league year while also hitting the reset button on two positions that needed some fixing after an underwhelming 2019 season.
