2020 NFL Combine: Top performers for running backs

NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The running backs were the final group to run through the gambit of tests on Friday evening following both groups of offensive linemen and the special teams player who started the day off.

No running back truly blew the doors off of the combine but there were still some notable performances from the guys everyone expected to test well and a few other lesser-known prospects doing their best to earn some money.

Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor, Georgia’s De’Andre Swift, and LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire were the three biggest names going through drills after Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins declined the chance to perform in front of scouts.

Taylor blazed to a position-best 4.39 forty but only managed to place fourth in the 3-cone drill and failed to crack the top five of any other test. Swift didn’t place in the top five of any of the drills and Edwards-Helaire had one top-5 finish, placing fourth in the vertical jump with an impressive 39’5” mark.

If anything, it was the non-big name prospects that did most of the work in Indianapolis. Check out the rest of the top-5 testers below.
