You know it’s officially combine week when the hand sizes become the most popular thing trending on Twitter. It’s a time to marvel in those who were blessed with baseball gloves attached to their wrists, or to worry about those who may not be able to fully wrap their fingers around a pigskin tight enough to be successful in the NFL.
When it came to the most recent Heisman Trophy Winner and 2020 National Champion Joe Burrow, the guy decided to have some fun after his hands were measured to be 9” flat. For context, scouts like quarterbacks to be at least 9 1/2” or as close to 10”+ as possible. Justin Herbert of Oregon was measured 10” even.
Considering retirement after I was informed the football will be slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts.

The prospects getting measured today are the special teamers (kickers, punters, long snappers), offensive linemen, and running backs. For those banking on the Chargers selecting an offensive lineman early, stay tuned to social media to see who is checking those boxes and who are falling short.

“Wilson recently spoke exclusively with Draft Wire about his experience playing on one of the best teams in all of college football, how he was sharpened by the other talented players around him, and what kind of impact he’ll have at the next level.”
Solving the Chargers’ need for speed

“Calling this situation a problem is really understating it. The team needs to be really aggressive this offseason in solving it. This will be my personal four-step process at attempting to find the solution.”
2020 NFL Combine: Brandon Aiyuk raises eyebrows as wide receivers measure in
“For the Chargers, they are in need of adding more play-makers at the position. Therefore the team could be in the market for one as early as Round 2.”

“According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who cites colleague Jeff Darlington, the Tennessee Titans have emerged as a strong contender for Brady’s services. Schefter discussed the possible pairing this week on the Rich Eisen Show.”
2020 NFL Combine: Jordan Love steals spotlight as quarterbacks measure in
“Jordan Love was the biggest winner out of the crop. At 6-foot-4 and 224 pounds, Love looks the part with a well-built, sturdy frame. The former Utah State product boasted the biggest hands at 10 1/2 inches.”
Joey Bosa’s Best Plays From the 2019 Season | LA Chargers

“Defensive End Joey Bosa’s top plays from his 2019 pro bowl campaign.”
2020 NFL franchise tag candidates and predictions: 21 teams that could use it before free agency
“The franchise tag is a labor designation that restricts a player’s potential movement in exchange for a high one-year salary. Each team can put the franchise tag on one pending free agent, a decision that is expensive but also provides massive leverage against losing a player, ensuring the team a hefty return if that player ultimately departs.”
Five bold predictions for the Chiefs offseason

“Despite their apparent friendship, I can’t see Jones pulling a Le’Veon Bell and sitting out a year. Jones signs the franchise tag a few weeks before the regular season, and both sides re-address the situation next year.”
Broncos’ plan for Joe Flacco, backup QB will take shape at combine
“To that end, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, just after he was hired in January, said he was “excited” to work with Lock, but that he was still getting to know the team’s personnel. He added, “I’m not sure who’s going to be here moving forward.””
K.C. taking a first-round CB? It’s a rarity, but could happen in 2020
“As the Chiefs prepare for the scouting combine, cornerback is a position of need and one to watch when they select 32nd in the first round, and keep an eye open in the later rounds.”
