Bolts drop one spot after win against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Chargers beating the Atlanta Falcons 20-17 on Sunday afternoon didn’t do anything in the way of helping their chance at securing Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell, but it certainly didn’t hurt their chances all that much, either.

Their fourth victory of the season dropped the Bolts just one spot, going from fourth to fifth overall in the 2021 draft.

It’s likely going to take a top-three pick to grab Sewell, but there will still be plenty of blue-chip players available if they pick anywhere within the top 10.

As of now, their top draft needs remain. If it’s not an offensive lineman, I expect their first-round pick to be a cornerback or an edge rusher.

Past fifth-overall picks include:

  • 2020: Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins)
  • 2019: Linebacker Devin White (Bucs)
  • 2018: Defensive end Bradley Chubb (Broncos)
  • 2017: Wide receiver Corey Davis (Titans)
  • 2016: Cornerback Jalen Ramsey (Jaguars)
  • 2015: Offensive Guard Brandon Scherff (Washington)
  • 2014: Outside linebacker Khalil Mack (Raiders)
