Each week, Pete Prisco of CBS Sports picks each game of the week while including their the games opening lines from William Hill.
In Week 14, the Chargers are currently a 2.5-point underdog to the Falcons and Prisco thinks that’s pretty spot on. His final score prediction has Atlanta outlasting the Bolts in a shootout 33-30.
“This is a long trip for an Atlanta team playing for nothing,” says Prisco. “But the Falcons have played much better under Raheem Morris, while the Chargers are coming off a terrible showing against the Pats. I think that plays out here. Atlanta will move the football and find a way to win it as Matt Ryan outplays Justin Herbert.”
This matchup looked a lot better on paper earlier this year before the Falcons started to turn things around under Morris. They’re much better against the run and that passing game is as explosive as it’s been all season. Anthony Lynn will never stop wanting to pound the rock and Casey Hayward is still dealing with a nagging injury. Those two things don’t bode well for L.A. in this matchup.
Guarding Julio Jones, alone, is hard enough. Now that Calvin Ridley has also grown into his own, this is about to be one of the toughest outings for the secondary so far.
Atlanta’s secondary isn’t all that great, either, so the expectation of fireworks is well-warranted.
This should be a fun one!
