The Chargers lost. It sucked. It might have killed the team’s chance at making the postseason entirely.

The latest loss also dropped the Bolts in ESPN’s latest power rankings, going from 20th to 22nd.

“Herbert is the only reason for optimism even though he threw two picks versus Denver,” says ESPN beat writer Shelley Smith. “He still passed for 278 yards and three touchdowns, and he has an arm that made him the No. 6 overall pick. He has now thrown for 1,820 yards and 15 touchdowns, with the latter tying Deshaun Watson for the most for a rookie over his first six starts.”

Herbert might truly be the ONLY reason for optimism when it comes to this team right now, and as long as the Bolts’ starting quarterback continues to shine, you can’t quite give up entirely on this team.
