Justin Herbert has technically played less than a half of an NFL season so far and he’s already getting some insane praise from the media. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports does a weekly power rankings of all 32 of the starting quarterbacks and after another solid performance against the Raiders, Herbert has officially cracked the top 10.
Here’s what Benjamin had to say about the rookie’s ranking:
“Yes, you’re reading this right. The Chargers find new ways to lose every week, but that’s not on Herbert, who’s been downright electrifying with his rocket arm. Who said this kid wasn’t ready for the NFL? He’s got everything you want in a franchise QB.”
Herbert has set numerous rookie records with his hot start. Most-recently, he broke Cam Newton’s record for the most passing yards by a rookie through their first seven starts with 2,146. He’s also on pace to shatter the rookie touchdown record set by Baker Mayfield in 2018.
How many times can we say this kid is the real deal? Not enough, if we’re being honest.
And now for today’s links.
