How to watch Chargers @ Saints

Another bout between youth and experience is on tap for Monday night.

It’s the Chargers’ first primetime matchup of the 2020 season and it’s coming against former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees and the tenacious New Orleans Saints.

Incredibly, the last quarterback not named Brees or Philip Rivers to start on Monday Night Football was Stan Humphries back in 1996. It’s just incredible that in his first start, he’s going up against a player with ties to the team while also being one of the best players to ever play the quarterback position. As much as we thought last week’s game was fun against the G.O.A.T, this week’s excitement is only compounded by the primetime slot.

The Saints are a deceiving 2-2 team. They beat the Buccaneers and Lions while having losses to the undefeated Packers and 2-2 Raiders. However, they’ve been without some of their top players, including wide receiver Michael Thomas, and cornerbacks Janoris Jenkins and Marshon Lattimore. All three have a chance to be back for MNF, which makes this game that much taller of a task for Herbert and Co.

The New Orleans defense has also been one of the best in the NFL, allowing the sixth-least amount of yards per game at 334.3. The Bolts may also be without offensive line starters Trai Turner and Bryan Bulaga, once again. That would leave Herbert protected by a number of backups for the second week in a row against a front that includes All-Pro defensive end Cameron Jordan and Pro Bowl linebacker Demario Davis.

Defensively, this is the final game the team will be without starters Melvin Ingram and Justin Jones, as both are expected to return from IR this week. The pass rush has been underwhelming the last two weeks, including their sack-less performance against Tom Brady in Week 4.

But it’s primetime, baby. You never know what’s going to happen. Let’s just do the best to enjoy our franchise QB’s debut on one of the brightest stages in the sport.

Below you can fins all the info you’ll need to tune in on Monday night.
