The Chargers face their second divisional challenge this week when they travel to Mile High to take on the 2-4 Broncos who are coming off a drumming by the Chiefs. The week before, however, they managed to come out on top against the Patriots.
Despite the 1-1 record over the past two weeks, quarterback Drew Lock has thrown zero touchdowns to four interceptions. That’s pretty bad, to say the least.
Regardless of the horrendous play of Lock, CBS Sports NFL analyst Pete Prisco thinks Sunday’s game will be a close one and doesn’t believe the Chargers will be able to pull it out, eventually losing 21-20 in Denver.
“Justin Herbert won his first game last week and continues to light up opposing defenses. Denver struggled in a lot of ways against the Chiefs, with quarterback Drew Lock having all kinds of issues. But I think Denver will find a way here to bounce back behind a strong defensive effort that limits Herbert.”
I think this will be the first game that Herbert looks somewhat human after his stellar start. That doesn’t mean I think he’ll completely come down to the earth, but I could see him having trouble against one of the better secondaries in the AFC.
That, and if the defense doesn’t come to play, is an easy way for the Broncos to sneak out a win on Sunday.
Now for today’s links.
