The Chargers get their toughest test of the season when they travel to Tampa Bay to take on Tom Brady and the loaded Buccaneers.
On offense, the Bucs are loaded with height, speed, and everything in between with the likes of wide receiver Mike Evans, and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and O.J. Howard. Defensively, they have talent at all three levels, highlighted by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, edge rusher Shaq Barrett, and rookie safety Antoine Winfield Jr.
The Bolts may be even more short-handed on Sunday if offensive lineman Trai Turner and Bryan Bulaga aren’t able to go. As of Thursday’s practice, they were not participants, which puts their availability in jeopardy.
While I don’t want to say this Sunday will be a huge defining game for Herbert’s young career, it’s definitely going to be put under the microscope for people to see just how NFL ready he is this early in his rookie campaign. It’s the first defense he has faced that’s not dealing with any notable injuries, so expect it to be used as a litmus test.
Regardless of all of that, I’m stoked and you should be too.
Here’s all the info you’ll need to tune in on Sunday morning.
