The Chargers announced their two additional players to be activated for tonight’s game and the staff has decided to promote someone on either side of the ball, with one of them being extra intriguing.

According to the team, defensive end Joe Gaziano and running back Troymaine Pope will join the team tonight when they take the field against the Saints in New Orleans.

The decision to promote Gaziano comes on the heels of the news that starter Joey Bosa is currently being hobbled with a trio of injuries, headlined by a tricep injury that’s been with him through the last three weeks. Gaziano’s activation leads to assume that, with the team’s bye now scheduled for next week, Lynn may decide to rest his star tonight to give him as much time to recover as possible.

Gaziano left Northwestern as the team’s all-time leader in sacks with 30. He has the ability to play the big end spot in Gus Bradley’s defense with the versatility to kick inside on passing downs. Time will tell if we’ll get to see the rookie UDFA on the field tonight, but he’s been one of the most-interesting undrafted players since he was signed following this year’s draft.
