On Monday morning, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Chargers will be without wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan during their trip to New Orleans due to the coach being on “personal leave.”
However it didn’t take long for McGeoghan to hop on Twitter to let everyone know that everything is going just fine with him and his family.
Everything is good. A Lynn wants me to put my family first. My son, daughter and myself have heart defects and my sons grandmother is battling breast cancer. I have work to do and will be back BETTER than ever. RISE!!!! https://t.co/1nQCVAwTFi

According to McGeoghan, head coach Anthony Lynn nudged him to go take time away from the game to take care of the his and his family’s health. For those that did not know, McGeoghan tweeted out that he, along with his son and daughter, all have heart defects, on top of his son’s grandmother currently battling breast cancer.
There wasn’t a timetable given for McGeoghan’s return from either him or Lynn, but it sounds like he could be away from the team for multiple weeks. We should learn fairly soon who will take over his position in the interim, but we wish Coach Phil the best of luck as he and his family do what they need to to better their health and overall well-being!
