Updates on Melvin Gordon

Anthony Lynn spoke on a rare Thursday press conference

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Running back Melvin Gordon did indeed end his hold out today. He reported to the Chargers and prior to practice, head coach Anthony Lynn gave a press conference to give some updates.

The TL:DR is as follows:

First, Melvin showed up in “great shape” and passed his physical.

He will practice today and the team will see what his agility and conditioning looks like.

Anthony Lynn is leaning towards Melvin traveling with the team, even if he isn’t playing this week.

They have not ruled out Melvin playing this week, but it’s unlikely.

The team was granted a roster exemption for Melvin so he will not count against the 53 until he is activated by the team.

Lynn confirmed that Melvin is the starter and will be RB1 as soon as they confirm he is ready to play.

He said that Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson have done great so far and that they will continue to have a role in the offense going forward, however he did not elaborate.
