Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers open thread

NFL: Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Chargers host the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon with both teams coming off underwhelming performances by their standards.

The Texans are coming off a 13-12 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars that came all the way down to a 2-point try in which running back Leonard Fournette was stop less than a yard shy of the goal line. Quarterback Deshaun Watson has been sacked 10 times through two games which leads the NFL.

The Chargers are looking to bounce back after a dreadful outing against the Detroit Lions in which they lost 13-10 due to the inability to get out of their own way. The Chargers racked up almost three times as many penalties as they had in week one, including two touchdowns that were subsequently nullified.

Punter Ty Long missed a pair of field goals, as well, in place of starter Michael Badgley, who will also miss today’s game with a groin injury.

Defensive ends Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram will look to continue the trend of Watson hitting the dirt as they attempt to limit the Texans explosive core of skill-position players that include All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller, and Kenny Stills.
